  • Directions: Located at the foot of Argyle Street at the south end of Port Alberni. Head south on Argyle Street until you reach the waterfront, just past Harbour Quay and the Maritime Discovery Centre. The beach is adjacent to the Port of Port Alberni and offers easy access to the Alberni Inlet.

• Sproat Lake Provincial Park
  

  • Amenities & Features: Multiple day-use areas with sandy beaches, swimming, boating, water skiing, wakeboarding, picnic tables, hiking trails, boat launch, and access to the famous ancient petroglyphs (K’ak’awin) at the east end of the lake. Clear, warm freshwater ideal for families and water sports.
  • Directions: Follow Highway 4 west from Port Alberni for approximately 15 km. Look for signs to the main park entrance and day-use areas. The park is well-marked and just past Taylor Arm Provincial Park.

• Stamp River Provincial Park
  

  • Amenities & Features: Forested riverside park with hiking trails, waterfalls, salmon viewing (especially in autumn), picnic areas, and camping. Popular for tubing, wildlife viewing, and peaceful walks along the river.
  • Directions: From Port Alberni, take Beaver Creek Road north for about 14 km. Follow signs to Stamp River Provincial Park; the entrance is near the end of Beaver Creek Road, just past the Beaver Creek community.

• China Creek Campground & Marina
  

  • Amenities & Features: Oceanside beach, marina, boat launch, campsites (including serviced and tent sites), kiteboarding, windsurfing, scuba diving (notably a wreck dive site), and hiking access to the Alberni Inlet Trail. Facilities include washrooms, showers, and a small store.
  • Directions: Head south from Port Alberni on Ship Creek Road, which turns into Franklin River Road. Follow signs for China Creek Campground, about 10 minutes from downtown. The campground is just past the city’s industrial area, right on the Alberni Inlet.

• Harbour Quay (Port Alberni)
  

  • Amenities & Features: Waterfront promenade, small beach area, children’s playground, picnic spots, shops, galleries, eateries (including the Donut Shop), and scenic views of the inlet. Great for strolling, watching boats, and enjoying local food.
  • Directions: Located at the foot of Argyle Street, just before Canal Beach. Easily accessible from downtown Port Alberni, with ample signage and parking available.

• Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park (Cameron Lake Beach)
  

  • Amenities & Features: Sandy beach on Cameron Lake, swimming, picnicking, hiking trails, and beautiful forested surroundings. The park also features waterfalls and scenic viewpoints.
  • Directions: Take Highway 4 east from Port Alberni toward Parksville. The park entrance is well-marked just before you reach Coombs, about a 30-minute drive from Port Alberni. The beach is located within the park’s day-use area.

• Victoria Quay (Port Alberni)
  

  • Amenities & Features: Riverside park with picnic tables, paved walking path (Kitsuksis Dyke Trail), small waterfall, trestle bridge, and opportunities to spot wildlife (including black bears across the river at the Somass Estuary). Features large Welcome Figures (totems) carved by local First Nations artists.
  • Directions: Located on River Road (Highway 4), just west of the city centre. Look for the Victoria Quay sign and parking lot adjacent to the Somass River.

• Alberni Inlet Trail
  

  • Amenities & Features: Multi-use hiking trail offering panoramic views of the Alberni Inlet and surrounding mountains. Trailheads provide access to forested paths, viewpoints, and picnic areas. Suitable for hiking and nature walks.
  • Directions: The main trailhead is accessible via Ship Creek Road, south of Port Alberni. Follow signs for the Alberni Inlet Trail; parking is available at the trailhead.
