Have You Heard of Coombs, B.C.?

Coombs, B.C. is a unique shopping destination right off Highway 19, and on the route to Port Alberni, Ucuelet and/or Tofino. It has many unique items that you might not be able to find at all accross Canada.

It’s most known for it’s Old Country Market with the goats on the roof! (Just like in the picture, above)

It’s a place though with many unique shops. They have all sorts of art, carvings, keep sakes, clothes, and local sourced goods as well. Coombs is it’s own unique place that stands out for many, which leaves a long lasting impression on visitors of Coombs B.C.

Coombs B.C. is kind of like the downtown area of the community of Arrowsmith, if you want to call it that.

What many people passing through on their way to Tofino, B.C. or Ucuelet, B.C. don’t pay much attention to, is that Coombs, B.C. is actually not just a rural unique shopping destination as people know it for thanks to the famous goats on the roof and goats on the roof bumper stickers.

It’s a part of a wonderfully connected community that holds all sorts of community events thanks to the non-profit organization Arrowsmith Community Recreation Association (ACRA). ACRA is led by a generous board of community members who volunteer their time to organize, plan and coordinate some great events that are diverse in their activities and frequent on the Calendar!

About The Arrowsmith Community

The Arrowsmith Community connects together the areas of Coombs, Errington, and Whiskey Creek. For most travelling through, you wouldn’t expect how connected these areas can be with a sense of community. 

It’s a rural area with lots of big plots of land, many mainly zoned for agriculture use. The space in between each home doesn’t stop neighbours from connecting with one another in their community though. This is thanks the volunteer organized and run Arrowsmith Community Recreation Association (ACRA). 

ACRA keeps the calendar jam packed with events that suit all ages and personalities, that gives a chance for locals and others to come in and connect with the community.

1. Recreation and Outdoor Activities:

• ACRA offers a diverse range of free and affordable recreation programs and events, catering to the rural residents of Coombs, Errington, and Whiskey Creek.
• Outdoor enthusiasts can explore the rustic adventures and scenic hikes in the area, including Englishman River Falls Provincial Park, which features two stunning waterfalls and swimming holes that stays a perfect temperature in the summer. MacMillan Provincial Park, home to Cathedral Grove with its magnificent Douglas-fir trees, and Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park are also popular destinations for nature lovers.
